BOATS
Able Sail/Handi-Voile has two boats operating out of the Shediac Bay marina at 168 Pleasant Street in Shediac.
The 'GORDON MCRAE' Freedom Independence
Used for recreational sailing, this 20-foot sailboat has been specifically
designed for the use of disabled persons.
Specifications:
The Freedom 20, built by Catalina Yachts, features the unique Freedom unstayed mast system. At 20' 6" it is one of the larger boats used for adaptive sailing.
The Independence cockpit is equipped with two pivoting seats for helmsmen and one crew person. The specially-designed seats are counterweighted beneath the cockpit sole.
The Freedom Independence has added stability due to the ballast ratio and vertical center of gravity. The mainsail is fully battened for quiet, aerodynamic efficiency and the jib is self-tending. The unstayed Freedom spar eliminates troublesome standing rigging and the danger usually associated with an uncontrolled jibe.
Two specially designed, counterbalanced seats can be easily installed or removed to suit individual needs. The cockpit can accommodate up to six adults. |
The 'MICHAEL DUNN'
